finding my inner chigliak

Good afternoon. This is your captain speaking, just to say that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Hello there! They call me Isabelle. I don't know why. I call me Isabelle too. Still don't know why. But basically, I'm like a space Gandalf. I live in the USA (state of Oregon) and not a TARDIS, unfortunately. I have many fandoms, incluuuding: Doctor Who (the most), The Moff's Sherlock, Farscape, Slings And Arrows, Life On Mars, Northern Exposure, Party Animals, and Wonderfalls. Proud Benaddict and Matt Smith fangirl, I have a special place in my heart for Jim Taylor and Danny Foster. I ship Doctor/River to a ridiculous extent. I now have a hatred for 5:02 P.M., never approach me at that time...I'm a bit married to deanwimpchester, otherwise known as MAH JAMMY DODGER, because of things and MIKA. But polygamy is always okay. I own a fez. Oh, and did I mention I have both a man and a gun? Weelllll... I dabble. Dabbling is cool. adorable fuzzy jam-loving hedgehog(s) aboard the TARDIS

I sometimes think, ‘If I knew what made Sarah Jane so popular, I’d bottle it’. I love her as a character, and I credit Barry (Barry Letts) for instilling something special in the character. He is a true gentle and honourable man and has such a wonderful take on life. I took some of that influence for Sarah. You also scavenge some of what you are as well. But, I wish I was more like her.

oh my gosh the last panel actually made me tear up

I can’t tell you how accurate this is

This is a really good depiction of social anxiety because it focuses on inner states rather then outward actions. As someone very good at concealing his anxiety, I appreciate it.

"I lived among otters once for a month. Well, I sulked - River and I, we had this big fight —"

There is so much good fan work about the scene from this week’s episode, ‘The Caretaker’ in which we learned that The Doctor lived among otters once for a month.
So we decided that for the next hour, it’s OTTER HOUR on the Doctor Who Tumblr. Stay glued to your dash.

I have long said that in order for any comedy to truly succeed as a story, there has to be meat beneath the jokes. There has to be that moment when it is not funny any more.

This. This is that moment.

I want my father back, you son of a bitch.

Mandy Patinkin’s father had recently died of cancer when they filmed this.

Have you ever come across a homeless individual and felt totally uncomfortable?

You see them and you know they are in need, but you are not sure what to do. You know that handing them money is not the best thing. But, you also see that they clearly have some needs. Their lips are chapped. They are hungry. They are thirsty. They are asking for help.

How can you help?

Here is a simple idea - blessing bags.
This was such an easy project. We are now going to keep a few “Blessing Bags” in our car so that when we do happen to see someone on the streets who is homeless, we can hand them a Blessing Bag. I first learned of these bags from my friend, Julie. I am using the picture of her bags (see above) because the ones we took were taken in horrible lighting and turned out really grainy and hard to see what is inside of them.

If you’d like to make your own Blessing Bags, this is what you would need:

Gallon size Ziplock bags

items to go in the bags, such as:

chap stick
packages of tissues
toothbrush and toothpaste
comb
soap
trail mix
granola bars
crackers
pack of gum
band aids
mouthwash
coins (could be used to make a phone call, or purchase a food item)
hand wipes
you could also put in a warm pair of socks, and maybe a Starbucks gift card

Assemble all the items in the bags, and maybe throw in a note of encouragement. Seal the bags and stow in your car for a moment of providence.

This would be a great activity to do with some other families. Each family could bring one of the items going into the bags (ex: toothbrushes). Set up all the items around a table and walk around it with the ziplocks and fill the bags.

This is hella cool. I thought i’d add my two cents since I spent time homeless. The things that stand out to me are the socks and the chap stick. A+. I would also suggest maxi pads or a waterbottle. I would skip the mouthwash, some people just drink it. Don’t give a starbucks card. Thats a nice idea, but seriously that 6$ for a coffee could buy ramen meals for 6ish days. If you’ve been eating out of garbage cans, you’d rather have the cheap ass ramen or gas station hotmeal over a cute coffee.

Above all though, even if you give no food, money or toiletries (which is 100% fine, you don’t need to feel obligated to do that) please don’t pretend like you don’t see them. Smile, meet their eyes, say you don’t have any change or whatever but to have a good day. Treat them like a human being. The’ll appreciate it just as much as a few coins.

i’m so upset

I just realized that the reason ghosts say Boo! is because it’s a latin verb

they’re literally saying ‘I alarm/I am alarming/I do alarm!!

I can’t

present active boōpresent infinitive boāreperfect active boāvīsupine boātum

Recte!

image

if it comes from the latin word, they’re actually saying “I’M YELLING!” which is even cuter

do they speak latin because it’s a dead language

This country is such a fucking joke. Did you know that if we were to divide the income in this country fairly it would be about 300,000 per person. That’s annually. You could give each person in this country 100,000 and still have enough to invest in infrastructure and research. Instead we have people who don’t have water, don’t have their basic human rights fulfilled, because they don’t have enough to pay a bill.

Capitalism is inhumane.
